STARFISH 6 WEEKS TO 12 MONTHS

OVERVIEW

Our Starfish room is our nursery and home to our youngest children. This room can cater to children as young as six (6) weeks old. It is a space designed to provide a warm and age appropriate environment. The Starfish  room has its own dedicated bottle preparation space, nappy changing area with CCTV to provide continual lines of sight and enhance supervision. It also contains a dedicated cot room with space for all children to have their own cot in a quiet, calm environment conducive to sleep and relaxation. The Starfish room also has access to its own dedicated outside play space, which is level, flat, fully fenced and covered by Sunsafe shade sails to provide a pleasant space for play at any time of the day. The program is based on individual observations, the interests and needs of the children and their individuality and developmental stages. This information is then adapted into a daily program that is set to the goals outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework. Children at this age are learning important independence skills and with repetition can acquire competency, success and autonomy for personal care such as learning to feed themselves, holding their own bottles, rolling and sitting up. They are rapidly producing language and need simple books, puzzles, pictures and music. The children in the Starfish room are also very active and enjoy, crawling, walking, running and balancing using large and small muscles. They are also building social relationships with their peers and educators.
